Elise Bickley - Female Parkour Spotlight

Elise Bickley is a 13 year old BEAST! She has bigger cojones than almost everyone I know, unafraid to throw gnarly tricks like roll-bombs and double flyaways in the middle of a competition run! Her abilities and mental game are beyond her years and mad impressive for any athlete, regardless of age or gender.

How long have you been training?

I’ve been training parkour and freerunning for just over 2 years now.

What got you into parkour?

I’m not really sure what got me into parkour but as a child I always used to climb on all the furniture and jump across them and one day I found this small gymnastics gym where I found out about freerunning and started to progress at it instead of gymnastics.

What do you do for a living?

Well I’m only 13 so I don’t really do much for a living except go to school and the rest of the time I do Freerunning and Parkour because I love it!

Do you have any other skills/passions besides parkour? If so, what are they?

Parkour is definitely my main passion and I don’t really have any others because I’m so set on parkour/Freerunning. However I do like doing anything to do with sports so I sometimes try athletics and other sports.

can we just appreciate this picture please

How do you manage fear when going for something scary?

When I come across something scary I always make sure that I’m certain I can do it because if you’re not 100% sure of something, there’s a chance that it could go wrong. I love trying scary and big tricks but I always prep them and think through each step.

Do you have any obstacles that interfere with your training? If so, how do you deal?

There’s not much that interferes with my training thankfully except my mum works quite a lot and it’s sometimes difficult to get to the gym I train at which is 30 minutes away from us.

What piece of advice would you give to someone starting out?

The piece of advice I would give to someone beginning parkour is not to rush things and learn simple tricks before the hard ones come round.

Who is a woman that inspires you and why? (in or out of parkour/freerunning)

A women that inspires me is Katie McDonell because even when she has other important things on in her life she never gives up on parkour. She always comes back to it.
